Urban Management Centre has made this film to encourage and educate Sewer and Septic Tank Workers (SSWs) on the importance and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). This film is designed for the ULB staff, parastatal agencies, and private sanitation service organizations to train SSWs and ensure safety in sanitation work. The Prohibition of Employment as Manual Scavengers and their Rehabilitation Act, 2013 and the respective Rules mandate provision of personal protective equipment (PPE) by the employers and the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 stresses on regular use of these by all sanitation workers.
The film outlines the specific PPE needs of SSWs and serves as a training tool for stakeholders in procuring suitable PPE. The film also emphasizes the importance of wearing PPE for improved safety and provides guidance on proper usage and maintenance.
